X House

The X-House is a low-rise residence built over the most common plot size in Kuwait; 400 sq.m. Situated within a residential neighbourhood, the design is named for its distinctive square on its main façade. This pure platonic shape is further emphasized with an X.  The project accommodates three families: each with its own apartment.  Each living unit contains three distinct zones, living, sleeping and services.  

The ground floor unit expands into the basement which offers a sunken desert garden that wraps around a glass enclosed interior. This outdoor oasis is designed a sanctuary for plants, and tamed animals. It functions as a living art connecting visually the indoors and outdoors. Additionally, the project extends its engagement with living art, with a bird cage tucked in the front façade to be ideally viewed from the main dining space.
