Our vision is to create a compatible self-serving district compromising current living pattern of Kuwait suburban lifestyle. After the analysis of the proposed site, the plot was divided into five segments. The segments were separated by streets that are an extension of the existing paths. The central two streets are designed for pedestrian activity, while the outer two streets are for vehicular circulation. The nature of circulation near each segment directed the zoning.
There are two types of paths: straight and organic. A straight path connects one end of the plot to the other and is used by vehicles and pedestrians. An organic path is an internal pedestrian only circulation zone that is spread within the neighbourhood. The plot is designed to make everything within 15-minute walking distance.
Building heights were designed in relation to the existing context, where the highest towers are on Al Soor Street. Then, buildings heights will decrease gradually until they merge with the present low-rise buildings at the other end of the site. The voids between the buildings were designed to maintain the same volumetric ratio regardless of building height. This enhances pedestrian experience across the neighbourhood.
Having a high-dense, self-sustained neighbourhood with all needed amenities creates a pedestrian-based lifestyle. Therefore decreasing the reliance an cars, which reduces CO2 emission, making for a better environment . the next step is to allow for the occupants to easily transport from Al-shaheed neighbourhood to other nearby nodes.
